Liora Kolton Presents her Backgammon Board

Neither Right nor Left

My work with the backgammon board focuses on the relationship between mothers and children. Not from the point of view of a martyr's ("shahid") mother, but from the fact that we are all Mothers who want the best for their children. In the storm that is war, we all worry and feel helpless.

The work was carried out together with my own mother who is a Holocaust survivor. During its creation she said something which I feel summarizes the whole essence and is also quite Kabalistic. The syntax is a little strange, but I would like to keep it:

"The paths are neither right nor left, but never turn and go back"

Liora Kolton

Liora Kolton was introduced to the world of painting under the tutelage of known Israeli artists Alexander Bogen, Smuel Tepler and Moshe Rosenthalis, as well as the celebrated French artist Robert Baser. A member of the Israel Artists Association, Liora devoted the years of 1972-1976 strictly to artistic endeavors. Working out of her Ramat Gan studio she produced works in oil, in addition to creating lithographs and copper etchings. During these four years she participated in several group and solo exhibitions.

Although her accomplishments were many, Liora realized that an individual cannot live by art alone. Consequently, she expanded her artistic endeavors by adapting them to the commercial sector. Over the next twenty years Liora channeled her creative talents into the business world by establishing a successful graphic design studio specializing in the development of visual corporate identity.

Kolton Studio provided an impressive client list of leading Israeli and international enterprises.
